![]() The Invisibl Skratch Piklz were recently featured in a documentary that premiered yesterday [Monday March 13th] at the Asian American film festival. Entitled 'Tagumpay' which means 'Triumph' in the Filipino language of Tagalog, this excellent film highlighted the thriving community of Filipino American artists from the Bay Area. The ISP were prominently featured in the half hour documentary which was put together by up and coming film director Ralph Briones. After the screening Q-Bert stepped up and spoke to the sold out crowd about the ongoing accomplishments of Filipino DJs. He pointed out that The Canadian, Japanese and Australian DJ champs are of Filipino descent. He also noted that early on the German champ was also of Filipino background. His remarks definitely left people feeling good and underscored the rich tradition of deejaying and Hip Hop culture within the Filipino community. As to his upcoming activities, Q-Bert told the crowd that his CD 'Wave Twisters' has been animated and made into a 'special effects' movie. This film will premier on July 1st at Skratchcom 2000. Now what in the world Skratchcom 2000 you ask? Well, it looks like the ISP have been hard at work putting together what will be the first ever Turntablist Convention. It will feature everything from seminars and exhibitions on battling, turntable techniques, team competition etc. Whatever is involved with the art of cutting and scratching will be covered. The July 1st line up will include legendary DJs like Cash Money, Magic Mike, DJ Alladin Joe Cooley, The Beat Junkies and the X-Cutioners to name a few. Skratchcom 2000 will also feature all the recent DJ champs from around the world who will join ISP members Yoga Frog, D-Styles, DJ Shortkut, Mixmaster Mike and Q-Bert All this will take place in downtown San Francisco at the newly opened Sony Metreon Complex. The ISP are reaching out to all Skratch DJs who have mad skillz. They are putting together a showcase section featuring the top works of emerging skratch DJs.
